Boys and Girls Club

I have never volunteered at a after school program like the boys and girls club. I used to be a big buddy at a elementary school in high school and i thought this was much like that. When i got there to the club, there were many kids who were playing games in a general room. There was a staff that i helped out with. This program was developed for youth to go to while parents were still at work. These kids had a wonderful staff who were young and full of energy (just what they need) ready to play. They had activities they could join in or they could do homework in a lab room with computers or play on the side doing other games. A young girl quickly attached to me and introduced me to many kids. Two of which were her siblings. We played some games and at the end of the day the kids get to go to the store. They earn paper money for being good or winning games and they get to spend it in the store. There is candy, cards and many misc. toys...the young girl tried to give me some of her money to spend for myself but in insisted that she spend it on herself lol. She was a cute kid and was so excited to have me there as a friend. I think the boys and girls club is a great organization for kids.....and i look forward to volunteering again.
